Unlock Your Performance Potential!

This performing arts workshop will use the Alexander Technique to help participants at all levels improve their abilities in singing, acting, dancing, and musicianship. The Alexander Technique is a system of mindful movement that is recognized for helping performers develop proper breathing and vocal techniques, improve postural alignment, reduce tension, and enhance performance. The workshop is led by Caitlin Freeman, a certified Alexander Technique instructor. Caitlin taught the Alexander Technique for five years at Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts, and currently practices at the UPMC Center for Integrative Medicine in Shadyside.

Move Like You Were Meant To!

Many of us deal with stress and pain in our everyday lives, but don’t know what we can do to help ourselves feel better. In these classes, participants will learn about the Alexander Technique, a simple yet profound method of mindful movement that alleviates stress and improves overall wellbeing. The Alexander Technique is especially effective for relieving back pain and other chronic pain. It is also a useful stress reduction method for managing anxiety and depression. Come learn how the Alexander Technique can help you move with greater ease and confidence.

The Center for Integrative Medicine at UPMC Shadyside is offering a four-week Alexander Technique class, which will teach the basic principles of the Technique and their application to common everyday movements. Participants will also receive two 1/2-hour private sessions.

Caitlin Freeman is an AmSAT Certified Alexander Technique instructor and NASM Certified Personal Trainer. She helps her clients relieve pain and recover from injury by bringing the body back to its natural movement equilibrium.

Space is limited. Call early to register.
