Pain Management

The Alexander Technique is an excellent tool for managing muscle and joint pain, such as repetitive stress injuries, as well as pain caused by nerve compression and sciatica.

Alexander Technique Table WorkThe Alexander Technique has been demonstrated in clinical trials to be an effective solution to back pain. A recent study published in the British Medical Journal showed that a course of 24 lessons in the Alexander Technique provided long term benefits for patients with chronic or recurrent back pain.

This randomized controlled medical trial demonstrated that one-on-one lessons with an experienced Alexander Technique teacher produced lasting results even after one year without lessons.

The other modalities tested — massage and physical exercise — were not as effective as the Alexander Technique at alleviating back pain.

The Alexander Technique has also been shown to alleviate pain caused by chronic disease, such as Parkinson’s Disease and Polycystic Kidney Disease.
